ప్రపంచం నలుమూలలా వున్న తెలుగువారి అభ్యున్నతి కాంక్షిస్తూ సామాజికాంశాలపై వారిలో అవగాహన పెంపొందించే లక్ష్యంతో యేర్పడిన ‘ఫ్రెండ్స్ ఆఫ్ యిండియా’ మేధోబృందం (థింక్‌ట్యాంక్‌) తొలి సమావేశం జూలై 26న లండన్‌లో జరిగింది.

డాక్టర్ శేషగిరిరావు నిమ్మగడ్డ స్వాగతోపన్యాసం చేస్తూ ‘యెన్నారైలు తాము నివసిస్తున్న దేశాల్లోని విధానాలకు ప్రభావితులవుతూ మంచి పౌరులుగా యెదుగుతారు. భారతీయ విలువల్ని పరిరక్షించు కుంటూనే కొత్త దృక్పథంతో వీరు తాము నివసిస్తున్న దేశాలకీ, మాతృదేశానికీ తమవంతు సేవ చేస్తున్నారు’ అన్నారు.

రామానాయుడు బోయళ్ల ‘ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లో మారుతోన్న రాజకీయ ముఖచిత్రం – రాజకీయపార్టీల ముందున్న సవాళ్లు’ అంశంపై ప్రసంగిస్తూ – వ్యవసాయాధార ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థ యెలా పారిశ్రామిక ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థగా రూపాంతరం చెందుతోందో ప్రస్తావిస్తూ అది విసిరే సవాళ్లను చర్చించారు.

శ్రీశైల్‌ రెడ్డి పంజుగుల తెలంగాణా సర్వే ఫలితాల సంక్షిప్త రూపాన్ని గ్రాఫ్స్, గణాంకాల సహాయంతో ప్రెజెంటషన్‌ ద్వారా వివరించారు. ఎఫ్‌ఓఐ సర్వే నిర్వహించిన తీరును, విధివిధానాలను, పరిమితులను వివరించారు. 35 దేశాలనుంచి 1925 నెటిజన్లు పాల్గొన్న యీ సర్వేపై సవివరమైన రిపోర్ట్‌ను మీడియాకు త్వరలో విడుదల చేస్తామన్నారు.

రషీద్‌ ఖాన్ ‘రాజకీయాల్లో యెన్నారైలు’ అంశంలో ప్రవాస భారతీయులు యెలా భారతసమాజానికి వుపయోగపడుతున్నారో వివరించారు. ‘భారతీయ మేధపై రవి అస్తమించదు. ప్రతి క్షణం ప్రపంచంలో యెక్కడో ఒకచోట మనవాళ్లు అనుక్షణం పనిచేస్తూనే వున్నారు’ అంటూ అబ్దుల్ కలాంను వుటంకించారు.

అనంతరం, రాష్ట్ర రాజకీయాల్లో చేరడానికి యింగ్లండు నుంచి తిరిగివెళ్తున్న పవన్‌కుమార్ బధకల్‌, శ్రీశైల్‌రెడ్డి పంజుగుల తమ ఆలోచనలను సభికులతో పంచుకున్నారు. యే రాజకీయ పార్టీలో వున్నా రాష్ట్ర, దేశ సర్వతోముఖాభివృద్ధికి తోడ్పడతామంటూ నిర్మాణాత్మక సహకారం, ప్రగతిశీల రాజకీయాల అవసరాన్ని సంయుక్తంగా వక్కాణించారు.

ఆద్యంతం వుత్సాహంగా జరిగిన సభలో ఆహూతులు తమ విమర్శనాత్మక సలహాలను యిస్తూ సందేహాలను నివృత్తి చేసుకుంటూ యింటరాక్టివ్‌ సెషన్స్‌కి వన్నె తెచ్చారు. మహేశ్‌కుమార్‌ సభాస్థలికి సంబంధించిన సమాచారాన్ని వివరించగా రషీద్‌ ఖాన్ వందన సమర్పణ చేశారు.మల్లేష్ కోట, సూర్యకిరణ్‌లు యేర్పాట్లను పర్యవేక్షించారు.

Friends of India (FOI)’s stimulating event in London

Friends of India, a think-tank, formed with an objective of contributing to the advancement of people of Telugu origin across the world, has successfully organised its inaugural conference in London on 26 July 2008.

Dr Seshagiri Rao Nimmagadda in his welcome address stated that the non-resident Indians living across the globe have been making key contributions to their resident nations and their mother land by adopting the positive aspects of those countries without compromising on their Indian values.

Ramanaidu Boyalla in his speech on ‘Emerging political scenario in AP and the challenges before the political parties’ stated that the major challenge for political parties is to change the current agrarian economy into an industrial economy.

Srisail Reddy Panjugula presented the preliminary results of an internet survey, conducted by ‘Friends of India’ on Telangana issue, with the help of graphs and figures. He explained the objectives, methodology and limitations of this survey which attracted 1925 responses from 35 countries. A detailed report of the survey will be released to the media soon, he added.

Rasheed Khan, while chairing the session titled, ‘NRIs in Politics’ explained the contribution of NRIs to India. He quoted Abdul Kalam as saying ‘The sun can never set on the empire of Indian mind. Some children of mother India are always working wherever the sun is shining on this planet’.

Later two young men, Pavan Kumar Badhakal and Srisail Reddy Panjugula, jointly shared their thoughts with the audience on the eve of their leaving England to enter mainstream politics in Andhra Pradesh. They stated with conviction that irrespective of the political party they have joined, their objective is to strive for the all round development of the state and the country by constructive co-operation and by practising progressive politics.

Throughout the meeting the audience showed a keen interest by interacting with the speakers with relevant questions and constructive comments. Mahesh Kumar explained the housekeeping rules; Rasheed Khan gave vote of thanks; Mallesh Kota and Suryakiran have overseen the programme organisation.
